Roger and Luanne...this is what Ramon looks like standing in a corner!!! I sure have fun with him. Oh yeah...it was staged...don't worry.

Brenda's dad made a surprise visit last evening. Please help us pray that he will develop a strong relationship with God. He is seeking.

Marta, are you trying to hide from the camera???

I love the picture painted for us in the Bible as God being our rock. Surrounding this orphanage are huge mountains of rock. Everyday they are still there...in the same place. The winds blow and the weather changes...but the rocky mountains majestically stay put. One of the things I enjoy the most is the way the light hits them. As the sun slowly moves across the sky and splashes color from different angles, their appearance drastically changes...becoming even more breakthtakingly brilliant. But, nevertheless...they are the same towering, unmovable mountains of rock. I am so glad that my God is unmovable...a towering majestic pillar in my life. Sometimes, I am able to glance at Him...as if from different angles of light...and I'm amazed at His splendor...and comforted by His steadfastness. As I am walking around the compound, I am always telling everyone to look up at the beautiful mountains. They think I am 'loco'. But seeing how big they are...and how georgeous they are, I have to tell everyone. Apparently when you live here long enough...you don't notice them. (It's what I've been told.) I don't want to be like that. I want to look at them many times throughout the day and be amazed at God's craftsmanship. I love being reminded of God's glory in His creation. When I see them, I want to remember the solid Rock in my life. I want God to 'take my breath away' throughout each day as I think on Him, my steadfast anchor.

I'm afraid that another thing around here is taken for granted...or considered a norm. Kids without moms and dads. Kids that have been brutally abused & abandoned, kids with shattered hopes and dreams. I eat with them, play with them, hold them in my arms and sing silly songs to them. They are orphans. This is not a camp where the mom and dad is going to be driving in to pick them up at the end of the week. This is their family...period. It's all they have. They are not thinking about their next family vacation or what friends that want to have over for a sleepover. Everynight as they climb into bed, shared with 1 or 2 or 3 friends, they are reminded that all they have is eachother. No mom or dad to ask how their day went, ask them what they're thinking about, tickle them or rub their back. They just climb into bed, pull their blankets up and fall asleep...all by themself. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Kids are supposed to have families that treasure them. Please help me to not get used to this. Will you help me pray in families for these kids? The more children who are adopted into strong Christian families, the more children we can bring into the orphanage to be adopted into more families. We are just lacking some moms and dads...there are plenty of kids. I also ask you to pray that we will be able to get 'orphan status' for these kids...so the adoption process can be quicker. Please forgive me if I sound like a broken record player. Their adoption is my passion.

This morning I am concentrating hard to keep the fish from running upriver. We had the famous scrambled eggs and tunafish breakfast and I struggled to eat it and now the job is to keep it down. :) I was hungry and that is what keep the fork going to my mouth. Now I am wondering if that was a mistake. Many of the kids loved it...but Fred and Barb...Brenda DID NOT like it. Please take note. I personally think it is cruel and unusual punishment. :)

It snowed yesterday. But, thanks to many generous people from FBC...more children were dressed warmly with coats. Gary has all the hot water heaters going so the kids now have hot water on cold days. That is a treat. Today it is supposed to reach the upper 60's...according to the internet. We'll see. The wind is COLD out of the north. But, the crazy thing...school was cancelled yesterday because of the light dusting of snow. Ed said that even on real rainy days school is cancelled. We have been told that February is loco month. We get a taste of summer, winter and everything inbetween.

It has taken hours to get this blog posted because of the weak internet signal. The weather is a little crazy. I apologize for the delay. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

These pictures are awesome! I love the one of Andrea all bundled up with shoes on her hand. Of course it made me want to jump on a plane and sneak her into our suit case...and bring her home to our warm and cozy house, but she did look pretty cute. I can't believe how much older Ramon is looking. He is so handsome. I think tonight at the top of our prayer list will be you being able to eat the food and keep it down. Ughhh I don't think I could have pulled off the tuna and eggs, but ya never know what you will do when you are really hungry.
