Excavation work at the new dorm! Praise the Lord!
You'll never believe it...but there is excavating work going on at the site of the new girls dorm!!! They said Monday, but in honesty, I thought in may be a couple of weeks. How exciting. The guy that owns the heavy equipment and is doing the work is donating all his time and expense. He owns the water park in Aldama. Anyway, I think it is pretty cool. Gary and I walked back to the property last evening and it is beautiful. Hopefully I can post some pictures from there. The sunset was beautiful.
I am in the process of making a big birthday calendar. We now have all but 6 birthdays accounted for. So, I am making a giant calendar for each month with everyone's name on it. Hopefully it will promote more of a festive time to celebrate each child. Today is big Brenda's birthday. Gary and I are hoping to take her into Aldama later today to celebrate with an ice cream or something. She sure works hard and has a lot of responsibility. We thank the Lord for her servant's heart and bookkeeping abilitites.
Today it is very warm...HOT out. I know, you probably don't want to hear it...especially our Michigan friends. Wearing a T-shirt makes you sweat right now!!! We are certainly not complaining as it reaches 80+. Mark and Jean, you will enjoy the change, I'm sure. Your kids are so excited to see you tomorrow!!!
Please pray for the adjustments we are making. Things are just different down here. We are used to beginning and finishing a job. Also we are used to having the correct tools and having parts readily available. Being prompt is another thing we have lived by. Down here???? Totally the opposite. You have to learn to go with the flow to prevent having a stroke. :) It's a different culture and we are in the process of adjusting. "Blessed are the flexible...for they shall not be broken." I'm sure I've read it in the bible...somewhere. :) :)
We have been trying to teach the boys to be gentlemen. Anyway, on the bus ride to and from church, there are never enough seats for the teens/adults. So, we have been working with the boys to stand up so the girls can have a seat. It hasn't been their favorite thing to learn...but they are trying. I was sitting near the back of the bus (since Gary drives) and Ramon sat in the aisle next to me...on the floor. He had his good church pants on, but there he sat, with a smile on his face, knowing he was doing a good thing. These boys have such potential...and they are really trying. Anyway, another boy, Jesus, also stood near the front of the bus. It's a long ride, but he stood there and held on to the railing. I am so proud of them!!!
Gary and I are still enjoying the book, "Follow Me'. If you have never read it, I suggest you get it. It boils everything down to the Kingdom aspect and has opened our eyes. We are learning the simplicity of it all.

naRamonlorenaThanks for the pictures. It makes up for your confusing a Toyota pickup with a real Chevy truck. I sure love looking at my kids on the blog as you know. But I would much rather see them in person!! I can't wait. Give our love to all and hopefully we'll see you very, very soon.
Please keep praying for us as we pray for you.
