Pollo Feliz! I brought sandwiches to El Mimbre tonight and they showed me their chickens. This particular chick is 2 weeks old and the others are 1 week old. They have had several other 'pets' but after someone (neighbor) killed Scooby last year, the guys didn't think they could try to do another dog...the loss was too much. So, Samuel said that this chicken is now their mascot and he joins them...even for supper.

Where do I begin? Maybe from the beginning? Living at Lily is really like living with the Lord's light penetrating directly into my selfish heart. I see everyone giving giving giving and I am ashamed of my lifestyle, my attitude and my thoughts. Life is NOT about me. It's about Jesus and others. I am to serve. It's horrible how easy it is to move back into the selfish lifestyle and how hard it is to get off that road. Help me, Jesus. I've been talking a lot with Casey. He is 23 years old, traveling light. He came in January with 35 lbs of luggage and probably has only 30 lbs left. He is the most unmaterialistic person I've ever met. A fairly new Christian...ready to give up everything...and sick of the way of the world. He doesn't want money or 'things'. Only Jesus.
Great news!!! There are two kids here at Lily who were radically saved Wednesday! I won't share their names, but their hearts are full of peace! Can't tell you how thrilling it was to see the transformation. AMAZING! This is what it's all about!
I spent Thursday out of commission...ate something that didn't agree with me the night before. YUCK. Anyway the yuck is gone. Thank you, Jesus!
As I mentioned in the picture, Pete and Casey arrived with their two young children. They are brave. Don't think I would have done it. Please pray for them as they will endure some of the hottest weather. They will be here for 3 months.
Most of the children are back from Easter vacation...except for 1 or 2. It's hard on them and hard on the other children. The ones that leave have relatives who will 'claim' them for a vacation but won't raise them. All the others have relatives but they won't even take them for a vacation. It's so sad to witness this. The government is trying to get parents and relatives to terminate the rights to these kids and the people won't. Then there are the other children who have been 'reunited' with 'family' and DIF has led Mama and Papa to believe they are doing fine. Well, Papa visited another orphanage the beginning of the week and 2 of his former kids were there. DIF didn't want to admit they made a mistake and put the kids into another orphanage to save face. Now the children are struggling to adjust. With the new DIF, I don't know if Mama and Papa will be able to get the children back. It breaks our hearts! Please pray for these kids. DIF is very concerned about numbers and laws...not about the broken hearts of the children.

Thanks for the pics. We view them all and read all your updates. We continue to pray.
Just thought the kids at Lily might like to know Ramon, Angel, Marcos and Beto are on the same soccer team and they won yesterday, 1 to 0. Marcos got the goal. They all played great. Everyone knows about Lily. Keep the pics coming please and have an awesome week. Give my best to all.
