Sundays have always had a special place in my heart...and today is no exception. Starting the day off at church and enjoying the relaxed pace afterwards is so refreshing. The children are playing and the air is filled with happy noises and the birds are singing to the top of their lungs. Visitors come to spend time with Ed and Rosa and dote on the children. It's a day without so many chores and time for a nap. Everyone is enjoying the warm weather and I'm soaking up the sun. I do feel bad for Rosa. She looks very tired but she is still a gracious hostess. Ed is busy taking his kids to visit pastors and the home of the handicap men...so Rosa can 'rest' here. :)

I had a great one-on-one time with Mark and Jean's Angel. We had a nice talk and it was good to just be able to talk without interruptions. He is so excited to think of his family being together at last in Michigan. With his one sister in Chihuahua and his 2 brothers at Mercy Orphanage, it has been very difficult for him. He is very excited at the thought of being Mark and Jean's son.

What a whirlwind! We have just survived the dark past 3 days of Halloween, the the 2 day celebration of the dead. I am glad that is behind us. It is so dark down here...and the evil is so open. Black magic, witchcraft and demonic posession is out in the open....and I don't like it. "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world."

A COOL BREAKTHROUGH! This evening there was a boy who said his mother would be visiting. I have been working to get termination of the mother's rights because the two boys desperately want to be adopted. I was told I missed her visit...but then she returned. I literally ran to the gate yelling like a crazy lady trying to catch her before she left. To make a long story short, after talking to her, she said she didn't want to sign off on the boys. I loved on her and told her that I needed to ask because of the boys wishes. As I walked away I felt like someone punched me in the stomach and it just felt wrong. I cried out to God and couldn't understand the strange turn of events since everything seemed to be pointing towards their possible adoption. Anyway, Rosa just happened to be by the gate as she was seeing a visitor off and she walked over to talk with the boy's mother. The biological told Rosa of my talk with her and Rosa took the ball and ran with it. By then I was back by the basketball court and the boys came running after me yelling at the top of their lungs..."She said YES, she said YES!" I grabbed their hands and ran back to the gate to speak with the biological mom again. Indeed, she did change her mind and knows that this will be the best for the boys. (The boys have been here at the orphanage since they were toddlers...and are now 14 & 13.) So, please pray that she will follow through with this. I told her I want her to think about this for at least a day and then Alex and I will take her to the judge to get her rights terminated. I wish you could see the joy in the boys' eyes! They are pumped!!!

My second great news of the day is not as big...but pretty fun. NO MORE TUNA IN THE EGGS!!! Rosa sadly told me that since the donations have been down, they have had to cut out buyig tuna for the scrambled eggs! I couldn't even fake a sad look...my face lit up like a light bulb. Then, Rosa said, "Really, I am not kidding, we aren't able to have tuna in the eggs!" When I started clapping and told her that the 'no tuna in the eggs' was the best news I've heard so far, she couldn't understand. That's OK. I don't understand why anyone would even think of tuna scrambled eggs. YUCK!!!

More great news. I talked with Memo today and he is going to help me get the building project all lined up so our MI-KEN-OAKIE team can hit the ground running. This was such a relief for me...because my mind doesn't naturally think BUILDING SUPPLIES, BUILDING PLANS, ETC. If we were needing to plan a shopping trip...now that's another story. Am I confessing too much? Sorry.

I loved on the kids again for you. They are all so desperate for hugs and kisses. I want to tuck them all into bed and sing silly songs to them. I want to hold them all as they drift off into sleep. Jesus, I know you love them, but I wish it were me in this home as a child and they could enjoy a terrific childhood like I've had. But, this is part of my BIG and LOVING God's plan. Do I understand it? NO. But I trust Him...and I rest in that thought.

P.S. Thanks for the foot advise...'nurse' Teena said it's looking better today. The girl is on antibiotics now too. My dad always wanted me to be a nurse but they do no good laying on the ground in a dead faint.

As soon as I put it up there was a swarm of children looking at everyone's pics. It was so precious to see them pray over the pictures this morning. They put their little hands on each picture and love on you...as if you can reach through the pics and touch them back. I cried.

Ok...this is gross...but I don't know what to do. Money is tight so a Dr. visit is out of the question. I'm going to the store to find some epson salt to soak this. Is this a good start? It stinks realllllly bad. Does that mean it's a fungus? It is infected. I AM NOT A NURSE...I GET WEAK KNEED. Any advise? Helppppppp!

Another beautiful day to enjoy the children and staff at Lily. Father, thank You for the privilege I have to rub shoulders with these beautiful people! They are teaching me so much about grace, genuine love and humility, for which I am grateful.
In our culture...it's hard to come to terms with 'simplicity of soul'. While working among these spiritual giants and precious children, it is lived out. It is so easy for our simple devotion to Christ to be lost in the clutter and busyness of our lives.

Upon arriving here at Lily, I have found a new angel. Her name is Colleen. She felt the Lord call here to Lily to help for 2 months. She had never been here before and there were many unknown variables. But, she came. She had no idea why the Lord was putting this on her heart, but it's obvious now. The Lord planned her arrival a few days after Ramon was burned...and the house was in turmoil. She recently graduated from college with a degree in social work...and she speaks Spanish. Her gentle spirit and servant's heart was just what everyone needed. She will be flying home just a few days before Ramon comes home. Oh God, why does this surprise me? You, Who created the heavens and the earth...knew just how to keep things going here. I praise Your Name, Father, for sending us an angel named Colleen. I don't really know that much about her yet...except for the fact that she is from Colorado...and she loves you, Father, and she let You use her in an awesome way!

Well, I was honestly thinking about taking walks in the mornings or evenings since it is cooler....BUT NOT NOW!!! I saw my first rattle snake down here just about 25 yards from the front gate 2 nights ago. So...my exercise will be plan B....as soon as I can come up with plan B. For those of you coming down here in a few days...bring a flashlight. YIKES!

Rosa has implemented an 'in-house school'. It's really working out pretty cool. A few of the staff and some outside volunteer teachers are teaching the older kids that can't read and right...so they can learn. It takes place during the day while the younger children are in school. Even Marcos is being taught sign language. (Now you need to come, Chrissy!) Neat, huh?!!!

Teena and I are doing well and a lot of things are getting crossed off the list. She has been a tremendous help and she has a great attitude. She is enjoying every opportunity she has to spend with the children.

Nico and Beto are now gone because of their behavior. Nico is at Mercy Orphanage and Beto is living with a relative. It was a difficult decision for Ed and Rosa but they are in survival mode. Please keep these precious boys in your prayers. The boys were told that they will be welcome to come back when there has been some changes in their lives. I know it had to be done...but it breaks my heart. I just want to take these boys home and give them the love and attention they are craving. When Angel, the boy that left the day before, was delivered to his 'mother', she wouldn't take him and it took several stops at 7 or 8 different relative's homes before they found a place for him. I can't imagine how Angel is feeling right now...so rejected.

This afternoon a friend will come by and help me with the building project plans. Mamo is not saved...yet. Please pray for a wide open door to witness to him.

If these posting seems rather hap-hazard...it's because of the many interruptions...as you can imagine. Ohhhhh, it's good to be home!
